Our Organization

teachergroportrait1.jpgOur Board of Directors  oversees our part-time office which includes our Executive Director,  Program Director and Business Manager. The office staff work with 2 paid; and a variety of volunteer art facillitators. (Teachers pictured at left).

Our art group facillitators, respond to and prompt our members’ interests in creative endeavors. They coordinate with staff and board to develop and enhance the arts and activities program.

We also engage some leaders of wellness groups and other activities, who are either intern students from local colleges or volunteers. A wellness talk and discussion is led by a member volunteer, who is a registered nurse and serves on the board of directors. We sometimes have volunteers from among members or the local community who organize creative writing, playwriting, music and movement groups.

dwngeveninginparis.jpgOffice staff link with members and group leaders to arrange sessions and exhibitions. They coordinate the monthly schedule and work with volunteers. They order supplies for teachers and manage cash. They are present during open hours and handle many other responsibilities.

The Executive Director and Business Manager develops the budget and manages finances; secures and complies with grants; and monitors all aspects of programs to identify opportunities for a high quality organization and the growth of our members.

heechangs.jpgThe board of eleven directors meets at least nine times a year with ultimate responsibility for Cornucopia’s purpose, policies and fiscal oversight. Bylaws require that at least seven directors have a past or present diagnosis of major mental illness. Officers serve up to three years. Committees make recommendations to the board and help accomplish tasks of the organization.

The board oversees and approves staff work and decisions, and supports the ideas and efforts of members and affilliates.
