Members come to our center for various reasons, many of them for creativity in one of our weekly art workshops. We offer these workshops throughout the year for upto 2 hours each. We have workshops in arts and crafts, hand built clay, other 2-D media and writing. They are led by experienced artists. All supplies are provided.
We make available gallery, movement and social space, as well as publication opportunities in our monthly newsletter as opportunities for members to show their accomplishments.
Any mental health consumer, freind or family member can join Cornucopia on the same day as their first visit. Our minimal membership fee, currently $24 per year cover all classes and supplies.
We open our doors to all consumers regardless of diagnosis or treatment method. No one needs to disclose any diagnosis in order to join.
We provide consumer leadership opportunities, like visiting legislators at th State Capitol, serving on our Board of Directors, public speaking or managing art exhibits in the community. (Look for our exhibit at the Overture Center in 2008 from June 19th to September 14th.)
Some of our partners include:
United Way of Dane County
has been our largest supporter through funding and technical training.
Grassroots Empowerment Project
is our other major grantor. This is the statewide consumer run mental health organization in Wisconsin. Its grantee sites meet for advocacy training and knowledge sharing.
Ephraim Faience Pottery Company
has paid for our clay teacher and supplies for the last three years.
Summit Credit Union
continues to sponsor newsletter, paying printing and postage costs, and they pay for our website expenses.
